Course Description:
The aim of this course is to provide the learner with a general understanding of the main elements of the Irish Legal system.. The focus of the course is on both the theoretical basis of the law and its practical implications.
It is suitable for those seeking employment in a legal environment and for individuals who wish to prepare for further study in this area

Entry Requirements: Participants should have Leaving Cert, FETAC level 4 Certificate or equivalent and/or relevant work experience.
Language requirements: A sufficient command of English language, both spoken and written is required for this course.
Independent Study: You will be required to do independent study outside class time in order to complete assessments.
Resources required for successful participation: Assignments must be typed therefore access to a computer is necessary for this course.
Accreditation: This course leads to a FETAC level 5 component certificate in “Legal Studies”
Assessment details Participants are required to do two written assignments and a written examination
Transfer & progression opportunities: Legal Studies is a stand-alone module but is also a module on several level 5 FETAC awards. Successful participants can study further modules to achieve a full FETAC award.
